Caledonia Way

When I was a kid I remember going with my parents to look at some new houses when we were moving. Even as an 8 year old, looking at some of these homes was super exciting to me because I loved the way the houses were decorated. Thinking about that now, I realized a lot of those homes were staged. When I started designing I never ever thought I would try my hand at staging. My friend was getting ready to sell their home and asked me if I could help, and I figured why not give it a shot?

I studied up on what the staging process was like and even a more serious, possible future towards that direction in my career. The process seemed so daunting though! Taking furniture out to put new stuff in, then taking it out again? Rental fees for the staging furniture? Eek. This house already had an amazing view and wanted to just give it an extra oomph on the inside. I was committed to making this work to the best of my ability without going this conventional staging route (i.e., using all the existing furniture) and spending most of the budget on accessories. Knowing that the house didn’t sit on the market for long at all definitely made me feel like this one was a success!
