Baby Foon’s Nursery
This little room will always have a special place in my heart. It was a lot of unfamiliar firsts for me. It was my first official design project. It was the first time anyone had ever seen and acknowledged any sort of design talent in me that I didn’t even know existed. It was the first time that I realized I had the potential to accomplish something that didn’t necessarily come from studying textbooks or taking exam after exam, (unlike all the past years of my life in academia earning my pharmacist degree). And for the first time, this was a process that felt natural, effortless, and most importantly also made me extremely happy!
I built my entire life around one formula: study hard + study some more = get a good financially stable, job. This project taught me that life doesn’t have to be (and shouldn’t be) confined to this one career formula I was so hung up on. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for all that I have learned in my career, and having this job takes away about 75% of the fear in starting a side hustle. But this project pushed me to re-define what it means to live a successful, fulfilling life. It challenged me to pursue a life outside of routine and mediocrity. And what I especially love about this design process for this simple nursery, is that it pushed me to seek more personal growth, all the while bringing beauty and joy into peoples’ lives.
